AwithA Body Shop

AwithA Body Shop is an immersive installation that explores the human body as an object, commodity, and constructed image.

From the outside, it resembles a temporary commercial tent. Through its translucent walls, only light, flickering screens, and indistinct silhouettes of silicone objects can be seen

Inside, the space shifts between a shop, a workshop, and an exhibition. Realistic fragments of the human body are displayed alongside tools, screens, packaging, and materials associated with their production.

The installation borrows the visual language of commerce and product display, placing the human body within a system of production, value, desire, and consumption.

By blurring the boundaries between the real and the artificial, the body and the object, AwithA Body Shop creates a space where the familiar becomes uncertain.

Rather than depicting violence itself, the work examines the mechanisms through which images of the body are fabricated, consumed, and normalized — particularly within film, media, and contemporary visual culture.
